The grand-scale violin competition, which aims to discover young talented performers, is held biennially. The best violinists from different countries and the renowned Jury members who represent the world’s most prestigious music universities gather in Krasnoyarsk — a home city of Viktor Tretyakov, a violin virtuoso and an honorary freeman.
At the age of 19 Mr Tretyakov, a first-year student of the Moscow Music Conservatory at that time, won the International Tchaikovsky Competition. This victory helped the budding musician to achieve worldwide recognition. He has taken the best concert halls of the world by storm and become the icon for the Russian violin school. By now the maître lives and works in Germany. His style of play is beyond reproach, and in order to attend his masterclasses one should apply a few years in advance. Therefore, the Viktor Tretyakov International Violin Competition opens up unique opportunities for young violinists. The Professor chairs the Competition Jury and shares his professional knowledge with participants, assesses their performances and talks with them personally.
The art competition like that is an outstanding experience for Siberia and a new bright event in the musical life of Russia.
