"Siberian Maslenitsa"


Pancake week

The Festival of Folk Culture "Siberian Maslenitsa" is held annually in the village of Sukhobuzimskoye, a hometown of the famous Russian writer Vasily Surikov.

Everybody is invited to come to Sukhobuzimskoye and participate in all Siberian Maslenitsa fun! The key event of the festival is a theatrical performance "Taking a Snow Town" inspired by Surikov’s painting by the same name. Must-do activities at Maslenitsa are to eat blini (pancakes), try a hand at various competitions: everybody can make the most creative sleigh, compete for the title of the best "snow sculptor" or present his/her version of the straw-stuffed figure of Winter.

The permanent participants of the festival are the Cossacks. They organize trick riding and hand-to-hand combat performances. On the Main stage you will see the greatest creative groups of the Krasnoyarsk region. There are many venues where you can have a meal and be entertained.

At the Festival of Folk Culture "Siberian Maslenitsa" all guests feel comfortable regardless of age. We recommend to visit Siberian Maslenitsa accompanied by a family or friends. We will be glad to see you in Sukhobuzimskoye!
